Historic Vigan: Awarded by UNESCO

UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) has granted Vigan with the “Best Practice in World Heritage Site Management Award”.

With this year’s theme, “World Heritage and Sustainable Development: the Role of Local Communities”, a close to 30 cities from 23 countries vied for the award. The aim of the convention is the identification, protection, conservation, presentation and transmission to future generations of cultural and natural heritage of outstanding universal value.

This is recognition for being able to conserve its structure. The city reveals designs with a fusion of Asian construction and European architecture.

It’s the best example that however industrialized we may become in the passing years, some things or places are better to be preserved - not only in pictures but in the gist of actuality. ◘
