Obra Para sa Musika (OPM) -PSID

The Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) has launched an exhibit last October.

The exhibit united interior design and music.

"Some people see colors when they hear music. Higher pitches tend to be in lighter or brighter colors while lower pitches are typically in darker colors. This is due to a condition called synesthesia, wherein stimulus through one modality is coupled with another", Rosario Cancio-Yujuico (PSID President / Administrator) enthused.

"Song writers have been known to get inspiration  for their music from their surroundings whether it be a landscape, an enclosed space, a visit to a place or space where they grew up and other life events. The music these talented people come up with in tun inspires many people in many different ways. Music touches lives. It is a part of everyone's life. Even people who have hearing disabilities can feel music as sound is not only audible but can also be felt, hence they can groove to the beat of a tune.

Music and Design are two branches of Art and they are somehow merged when a composer is inspired by a space. This made me think - can it work the other way around? Can the design of a space be inspired by music or a particular song? This is the idea behind OPM. It is the merging of two disciplines of Art. It is design that derives from music.  - Edwin Enriquez (Batch Adviser)"
