Yomenya Goemon

Pasta originated from Italy and we all know that Japanese food offerings include ramen, sushi and sashimi. So it was a totally surprising dining experience when we tried Yomenya Goemon.

The restaurant opened in 1976 with its first branch at Shibuya Koen Dori.

G loves Italian food - yes, pizza and pasta are his top choices. Burger, fries, chicken come in close second... well, that 's another story. This window display caught our fancy that's why we decided to eat here. I've always been fascinated by how these are made.

Moving on, we actually didn't want to experiment so we went on with our favorites. It's "Spaghetti in Meat Sauce with Mozzarella and Eggplant" for G and "Spaghetti with Smoked Chicken and Three Cheese".

Did you notice the plate? This resto uses an indigo, fan-shaped porcelain plate called Arita-Yaki.

Dig in and eat pasta in true Japanese fashion.

Spaghetti in Meat Sauce with Mozzarella and Eggplant - I was able to get a spoonful and this gets a two thumbs up from me.

Spaghetti with Smoked Chicken and Three Cheese = Just the words chicken and cheese excite me.

G's verdict: How could a Japanese resto create a flavorful Italian dish. It only means that this is a must-try.

We took a break from these pasta dishes by ordering pizza.

Craving for pizza and pasta? Then, we recommend this place for you.
